Part 1: General information on Combo detection
The Detection rule field allows to set an amount of product that Konnect will recognize and will trigger the system to suggest a combo to the end user (e-commerce or POS).
- Use whole numbers: 50 / 75 / 90.
- The detection rule % ranges from 0% - 90%.
- The detection rule will increment by 10%.
- If a detection rule is not set then it defaults to 100% (fallback value).
The combo detection rule detects if the threshold is met by checking the product types and the quantities that have been added to a cart. For example, if the combo detection setting has been set to 50% and there are 4 items (2 adult tickets and 2 child tickets), it will check to see if 1 adult ticket and 1 child ticket have been added to the cart or if 2 adult or 2 child tickets have been added to the cart. In all instances, combo detection will be triggered and suggested to the user.
Part 2: How to configure the combos detection rule
- Combos configuration is found under Products in the back office.
- To create, view or edit a combo, expand the Combos Tab under Product.
- Click on the pen icon next to the desired combo.
You’ll also notice a new column Detection Rule, this is where the % applied is displayed.
4. Add the desired percentage to the field
Part 3: POS - Combo Detection
Below is an example of the combos detection workflow in action via the POS. In this scenario, a 50% detection rule has been applied to a combo which is made up of 2 products for a total quantity = 4 (2 of each).
When the user clicks on the Combo available button, a modal displays pertinent information about the combo:
- Name
- Price
- Products contained
The user simply needs to click on the combo to replace the cart or click on the 'X' to close the modal. Once the combo is applied, the cart will display:
- Combo Name
- Quantity
- Price per combo
- Total (Quantity x price per combo) and subtotal before taxes
Part 4: Ecommerce - Combo Detection
Below is an example of the combos detection workflow in action via Ecom V2. Using the same scenario as above.
Given that 2 products from the combo have been added to the cart, the 50% threshold is met (2 out of 4 product quantities) and a 'Combo available' notification is displayed to the e-commerce (user) as a banner affixed to the navigation bar.
A user has multiple ways to activate the combo :
- Via the notification banner above
- When mouse over his/her cart where a smaller ‘Combo Available’ notification will display.
- In the cart view where the banner will be displayed again as seen below.
Once the user clicks on the notification, a window will pop up which displays:
- The name of the combo
- The price of the combo
- A description of the combo
- Products contained
If the user clicks on the Exchange button, then the cart will update with the combo as seen above.
Part 5 : Combos Detection Rule for products with modifiers
Combos can manage products with modifiers subject to certain limitations:
-
Modifiers are only available with the detection rule. Meaning if the tag page for combos exists, modifiers will not appear with the combo it is configured with on the tag page.
-
Once modifiers are included in a combo they are immutable, so a user would need to clear the cart if they want more or less.
-
An alternate solution to using combos with modifiers is to add those items as their own products in a combo i.e. not a modifier, as seen below:
-
Product A = 1 Daily Ticket + towel (mandatory modifier)
-
Product B = Activity
-
Combo =
-
Product A = 1 Daily Ticket
-
Product B = Activity
-
Product C = Towel (Quantity is preset)
